As May approaches, the librarians at CLP – Main Children’s are busy preparing for the Annual Spring Puppet Show. Each year we choose an engaging story that provides entertainment for children of all ages, but will be best suited for toddlers through kindergartners. In the past few years we have presented Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs, and last year’s The Magic Tree.
This year we are very egg-cited to present Leaping Beauty. Our story takes us to a farm where we meet Henrietta Hen – a chicken who loves to dance. She has eggs-traordinary dreams of one day going to The Big City and becoming a famous dancer, but her friend Zelda thinks she should stay close to the barn and peck for bugs. Renny Fox overhears her ambitions and says he can help her dancing dreams come true. Of course, what Renny really wants is a chicken dinner.
Will Henrietta be able to outsmart Renny and dance her way to fame in The Big City? Laugh along as Henrietta proves to Renny that a talented hen will never be a chicken dinner.
Performances of Leaping Beauty at CLP – Main Children’s are on Tuesdays at 10:15am and Fridays at 10:15am and 11:00am during the month of May, or you can see the show during one of five (!) encore performances during our Summer Reading Extravaganza on June 10th.
Nonie is a part-time librarian in the Children’s Department at CLP – Main. She has the fun of putting together the Annual Puppet Show and feels fortunate to hang out in a place where stories and children meet each other.
