Summer Fun with Summer Dreamers

School’s out for summer, but summer camps are about to begin! Many summer camps across the city visit Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh locations as part of their camp schedule. Because of this, campers participate in the Summer Reading program, win free books, learn and play in our spaces and strengthen relationships with our staff. 




PA One Book 2019

For the past 14 years, Pennsylvania has celebrated the importance of early literacy development in young children through its One Book, Every Young Child initiative. The One Book program encourages families to bond through books and reading while engaging children in conversation and other activities around books.  It also highlights the importance of reading early and often to young children.





Creating Access and Building Digital Literacy Awareness

The ways we gather, store and understand information are moving further into digital spaces. It is essential that we are providing access to, and creating the foundational skills necessary for, children to navigate these spaces. The BLAST (Bringing Libraries and Schools Together) team has been working to ensure that access to digital spaces remains equitable within library services.
