Have you ever wondered how some of your favorite musical artists got their start? Reading their memoirs or biographies gives me the chance to escape my own life for a little while and imagine myself in their shoes.

Another great way to immerse yourself in an artist’s world is to listen to their musical creations. Reading “The Beautiful Ones” by Prince while listening to his psychedelic music can be an enchanting experience.

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has a wonderful selection of biographies about musical artists both online and in our buildings. We also have a terrific collection of music CDs, both in the Library and on Hoopla.

You can sign up for a free library card here. If you are new to our eResources, check out these tutorial videos on how to get started.

Looking for a good book, album, movie or TV show? We’re happy to recommend them to you! Use this Personalized Recommendations form to send us some information about what you like and we’ll curate a list just for you.
