The first thing I noticed about this graphic novel was the beautiful cover. The color and light create a sense of magic and adventure. The illustrations throughout the book are equally gorgeous. 

Light plays an important role in the story. Bea carries a flame in a jar that’s more important than she imagines. Before he left on a mysterious errand, her grandfather wrote a note instructing her to protect it. She’s more concerned with finding him before he gets into trouble. 

Teaming up with her new friend Cad and her pet cat, she embarks on a journey that takes her far from home. Cad believes Bea’s grandfather can help him find his own family, Galdurians who most people think are long gone. Bea isn’t interested in adventure, but that’s exactly what she gets.
