In the world of children’s books, Byron Barton is one of the most well known author/illustrators.  He has amassed six ALA Notable Book Awards and five School Library Journal Best Books of the Year selections.  My House by Barton introduces toddlers and preschoolers to the parts of a house.  The vibrant colors, simple lines and chunky illustrations invite you to come inside and explore each room.  For the careful reader, an additional perk is watching a china cup accidentally knocked over, and not seeing the shattered pieces on the floor until fourteen pages later.  Subtle lesson imparted, mistakes my happen but mom and dad will always forgive you.
