March Celebration: Pittsburgh Public Schools Literacy Week

Pittsburgh Public Schools Literacy Week is an annual opportunity to focus on the importance and joy of reading. This year’s theme is Books Build Bridges: Connecting Communities Through Literacy.

The theme for 2025 can be seen as both literal and inspirational. Literacy is critical for children and teens to unlock learning pathways and to navigate daily life. The bridge of literacy can also inspire young people to connect across differences and create connections for their own futures.

Ask the kids and teens in your life: What bridges are you looking for? Which ones are you ready to build?

A booklist for children and a booklist for teens offer suggestions that can be bridges during and beyond Literacy Week!

All PPS students now have a library card thanks to CardFest! Not a PPS student? You can sign up for a free library card here.

If you are new to our eResources, check out these tutorial videos on how to get started.

If you’re looking for more book suggestions, we’re happy to recommend them to you! Use this Book Recommendation form to send us some information about what you like to read and we’ll curate a list just for you.

If you have any additional questions, you can contact a librarian through Facebook or Instagram. You can also call us at 412-622-3114 or email us at info@carnegielibrary.org.
