We all been home for a while now and possibly gone through our stacks of library books we grabbed before library doors closed, the books we bought that have been sitting on our shelves for years, the books we have borrowed from friends and neighbors for that quarantine no-contact connection, and even got the book for that new virtual book club you just joined. So now what?
Librarians are here to help! One of our favorite parts of our jobs is recommending great titles for you to read, even if you don’t know where to begin. We also love to help friends and families pick out some great titles for any age, whether that is helping your child get through a reading slump, picking that great first title for your online book club, or even suggesting some great movies to watch this weekend.
You can get recommendations in a couple different ways:
- You can fill out the Book Recommendation request form online and fill in the questions as thorooughly as possible. A staff person will read your answers and curate personalized selections.
- You can message us directly on Facebook or tweet @CarnegieLibrary with the hashtag #MyNextRead, and a staff person will respond with picks. Don’t forget to tell us a little bit about what you like to read, so we can make sure we are hitting all those interests!
- You can browse our website by checking out Staff Picks and read our latest recommendations in our blog Eleventh Stack, where library staff have been curating content daily!
- If you are a DIY-er, you can browse our eResources, such as Overdrive and Hoopla, through the categories provided and see what you discover. Remember, Overdrive now has an “Always Available” section and all Hoopla titles are immediately available for check out, up to 15 items a month.
We hope that having these options at your fingertips helps you discover new delights whenever you need them. If you have any questions, you can always email us at info@carnegielibrary.org or message us on social media. Happy reading!
