Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s website, carnegielibrary.org, is filled with useful information and resources.
Check out this list of five things you may not have known about.
1. Ask a question on Chat
You can get real-time assistance from Library staff from wherever you are. CLP’s Chat service is available from 10 am to 8 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 10 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday. Start your chat via the chat window embedded on the CLP website.
2. Find information in a Library Guide
Library Guides provide information and step-by-step instructions, curated by Library staff, for the most requested library research activities. To find all of CLP’s Library Guides, choose “Resources” from the primary menu on the CLP website and scroll down to click “Library Guides” under ‘How Can We Help?’
3. Meet your Match with a personalized recommendation
Looking for a good book, album, movie, TV show or something new entirely? Use CLP’s Match Form to tell Library staff what you (or don’t like), and you’ll receive a short list of recommendations. To find the form, choose “Books & More” from the primary menu on the CLP website, and scroll down to find the link to “Meet Your Match: Personalized Recommendations Just for You.”
4. Print wirelessly with Princh
Did you know that you can print right from your own device to a Library printer? CLP’s wireless printing application, Princh, works on a laptop or a tablet or mobile. To send your print job through Princh, you’ll need the 6-digit Printer-ID for the location where you want to print. The Printer-ID can be found by visiting the CLP website, choosing “Locations: from the primary menu, finding the location where you want to print, and clicking the Wireless Printing link on the location page to see the Princh directions. You’ll either enter the Printer-ID into the Princh website if you are on a laptop, or the Princh app if you are on an Android or Apple iOS device.
5. Get a library card online
If you are at least 18 years old, and a resident of Allegheny County, you can get a library card online by completing a few easy steps. After submitting your online library card application, you’ll receive instant access to a wide array of eBooks, downloadable materials and other electronic resources, and you can start placing holds online. To get your card online, scroll to the bottom of the CLP website, and click on Get a Library Card to find the link to the online application.
