Duolingo and CLP – A Summer of Literacy in East Liberty

As the theme song for Mister Roger’s Neighborhood goes,

“It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?”

Over at CLP – East Liberty, we have a neighbor who cares deeply about the community where its headquarters are located. And we are lucky to call them our neighbor!

“Duolingo is committed to being a good neighbor in the local community we proudly call home. Supporting our local library is connected to our mission of making quality education available to everyone,” says Kendra Ross, Head of Social Impact at Duolingo.

They have sponsored our Summer Reading Program and Extravaganza for three years now as the Official Sponsor of Summer Reading at CLP – East Liberty. Duolingo was also a sponsor of the Greater Pittsburgh Festival of Books this back in May.

“Duolingo is a treasured partner for their support of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh,” says Laura SanBoeuf Paris, CLP’s Director of Development. “They are standing behind the library’s efforts to infuse reading and literacy with the joy of summer, community, and friendly competition!”

We are proud to partner with Duolingo on both of these important initiatives!

And just to cap this post off with the spirit of Fred Rogers (since we know the song is in your head now),

“So let’s make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we’re together we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won’t you be, my neighbor?”
