The Gismondi VITAL Library Grant
Versatile Investment to Area Libraries
Libraries are essential to thriving communities. More than just books, libraries support literacy and learning, promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to computers and the Internet, and advance knowledge.
Thanks to the generosity of The Gismondi Foundation, a special funding opportunity is available to qualifying Allegheny County libraries to support projects that enhance library services that are vital to their communities.
This year, nine libraries serving communities in at-risk areas are eligible to request funding for special projects that will improve library services in their geographic area. Grants will cover costs for tangible items that make possible a variety of vital library services, including educational programs, equipment, technology, furniture and collections.
Eligible libraries may apply in the fall. A committee with representatives from Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County Library Association will review applications and select VITAL library grantees for the coming year.
