The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a helpful online resource on protection and prevention against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Here are the main steps they recommend to take in keeping yourself and others healthy:

- The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
- Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
- Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

- Take Steps to Protect Yourself
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (if soap and water are unavailable, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol).
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Take Steps to Protect Others
- Stay home if you are sick (wear a face mask when around other people).
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
