Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month covers such a large swath of people, experiences, histories, languages, and perspectives that it is impossible to choose just a few writers to highlight. Here are eight exciting anthologies that pack in as many types of writing and kinds of authors as possible –– poetry, speculative fiction, realistic fiction, and history through literature and research are all represented here.

Stuck in the Situationship

The couples in these stories might not even get together – or they might have to fight for a happy ending – but some sort of revelation or catharsis is guaranteed by the end of the book. From messy divorces to first dates, from strangers to childhood friends, there’s a situationship for everyone on this list.

Wacky Adventures in Cartoony Comics

Life is hard. Perhaps flipping through the zany escapades in one of these books will better equip you to embrace the absurd nature of existence. Maybe it’ll just be a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Violins of Hope

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is proud to partner with Violins of Hope to bring movement-based workshops, music performances and a panel discussion centered on themes of inclusion, hope and so much more to five library branches.

The Power of Trees

Trees are such an important part of our outdoor world and taking the time to look closely at them truly brings out their power. These books look at the remarkable relationships that can happen between humans and trees.
