Councilman Sam DeMarco was first elected in November of 2015. He is a North Fayette Township resident and the Chairman of the Republican Caucus of Allegheny County Council, serving in that role since January 2018. He is the Chairman of the Appointment Review Committee and sits on the Executive, Budget & Finance, Economic Development & Housing, Public Works and Public Safety committees as well.
The Councilman is very involved in the non-profit community and currently sits on the Board of Trustees for Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum Trust and the Board of Visit Pittsburgh, the official tourism promotion agency for Allegheny County. He is also an Honorary Board Member of the Tuskegee Airman Memorial of Western Pennsylvania Region, and a member of Amen Corner.
In addition, Councilman DeMarco serves as the Chairman of the Republican Committee of Allegheny County and as the Chairman of the PA Republican State Committee’s Southwest Caucus. He is also the former Chairman of the North Fayette Republican Committee and former President of Veterans and Patriots United. He is a Lifetime member of both Firearm Owners Against Crime and the Marine Corps League South Hills Detachment #726.
Councilman DeMarco is a United States Marine Corps veteran having served as an avionics technician in support of VMFP-3, a Marine Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron and VMFA-142, a Marine Corps Fighter Attack Squadron during his 4 year tour of duty. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Pittsburgh where he attended the University of Pittsburgh, studying Political and Computer Science.
