There’s nothing quite like the feeling of finding a new book by a favorite author. It might be one you’ve been eagerly awaiting, or it might be a title you weren’t aware of suddenly appearing on a shelf, a welcome surprise.
Sometimes, though, it can feel like our favorite authors haven’t released a new book in ages. (That’s particularly true this year, with the publication date of many books delayed.) Or we might just be in the mood for something completely different. That’s when book displays come in handy.
But the libraries are closed, you say. How can I browse? By checking out the online equivalent of book displays: our Staff Picks and New & Notable lists.
If you especially miss browsing the new bookshelves at your local library, there are new books, movies and videos featured on the Books & Media page on our website. Lists of new titles also appear regularly on the home page.
You’ll also see lists of new materials featured on our Kids & Teen page, the LGBTQIA+ page and the Library Welcome Center page.
To find lists organized around a specific topic or format, try searching the Staff Picks. There are a lot to look at, from read-alikes for popular titles, like “Where the Crawdads Sing,” to lists that feature a favorite genre, like mystery or humor.
Or just click through a few pages of Staff Picks (there are plenty!) and see what catches your eye.
If you are looking for an eBook or eAudiobook suggestion, we also have lists that serve as virtual displays on our OverDrive site and Libby app. Like the New & Notable and Staff Picks lists on the CLP website, the OverDrive curated lists are put together by our staff. Lists are created by subject, audience or format.
Still not finding anything? Whether you are looking for a good book, album, movie or TV show, we’re happy to recommend them to you! Use this Personalized Recommendations form to send us some information about what you like and we’ll curate a list just for you.
