Are you ready to get in the game? Your neighborhood library location sure is! In addition to our shelves packed with amazing books, movies, and video games, all Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (CLP) locations feature a collection of outdoor activities and board games. In library land, these types of items are called a Library of Things.
Outdoor Activities
Your library card gives you free access to borrow activities and games large and small.
- How large? We’re talking GIANT. As in a Connect Four game that’s four feet tall and wide.
- Not quite ready to haul a giant game around? That’s okay! Check out our more portable options like Tabletop Curling or Bocce Ball.
- Looking to try before you buy into the next sports craze? Borrow a complete Pickleball set or even Spikeball.
You can explore our full list of outdoor activities available now using the link below.

Board Games
If you’re hoping for more of a relaxing adventure, all CLP locations have a collection of board games, from role playing to epic quests right from your tabletop. A library card is your free ticket to:
- Trekking the World
- Trying your hand at becoming a Master Chocolatier
- Indulging in a Dinner in Paris
- Meeting up with some Really Loud Librarians (you might need to shush them)
- Ending your night with a Hanabi (fireworks show) in Japan!

There’s a board game or outdoor activity for everyone at your neighborhood CLP library. All items can be requested and sent to a library location near you to check out for three weeks with the option to renew. We’re going to be adding new items in the future so make sure to check back and follow our account in BiblioCommons!
You can sign up for a free library card here.
