On Saturday, November 12^th, 2016, author Giorgia Lupi presented a talk at the Carnegie Museum of Art Theatre.

For one year two award-winning information designers, Giorgia Lupi, an Italian living in New York, and Stefanie Posavec, an American living in London, mapped the particulars of their daily lives as a series of 52 hand-drawn postcards which they exchanged via mail weekly. Dear Data reproduces in detail the full year’s set of cards (fronts and backs) providing a remarkable portrait of two artists connected by their attention to the details of their lives—such as their complaints, distractions, phone addiction, physical contact and desires—that illuminate the lives of two strangers, and inspire us to map our own lives, including specific suggestions of data to draw and how.

Providing insight into the project and the duo’s approach to data visualization, Lupi discussed the creation of Dear Data and shared her thoughts on what we can learn from data derived from our everyday lives.
