This may not be a book for everyone, but it does have something for just about any one.  Part thriller, part comedy, part lesson in 20th century rhetoric and linguistics, The Seventh Function of Language is a lot of fun.  You will encounter the likes of Michel Foucault, Camille Paglia, and Umberto Eco as characters in what The New York Times has called a “postmodern buddy-cop novel,” and that’s only part of the fun.  Laurent Binet combines pop culture, high culture, politics, and historical events in an intrigue-fueled adventure.
