This might be obvious, but one of the jobs of a librarian is to recommend books. We all have our own categories that we truly excel at recommending (if you need a Young Adult recommendation, I’ve got loads of recommendations) more than others, but we work hard at being sure we can find something for anyone. Sometimes we find a book that is exactly what the patron wanted, and they fall in love with the book…and other times, not so much.
When you find a book that someone really enjoys, there’s something truly special about the interaction. There’s an understanding and an enjoyment about a book that the two people share and it’s awesome. I recently had that experience with a young patron who was looking for a new graphic novel to read. Graphic novels sometimes get a bad rep, but they are amazing works of art and writing and talent. So here are some of the best series I’ve run across and have gotten good reviews back from people I’ve recommended them to.
