Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is excited to introduce Super Science programs for kids in grades K-5.

Have you ever been curious about how fossils form, what geological forces shape mountains, or how polar bears gracefully navigate icy terrain? At Super Science, kids don’t just learn about science—they actively explore, experiment and discover the answers to these fascinating questions and more.

We pair captivating books with hands-on, high-quality STEM activities that promote scientific inquiry and ignite wonder about the world of science. It’s not just about knowing; it’s about doing science!

Super Science topics include:

Animal Features and Adaptations
Explore how animals thrive in their unique environments. Through observations of small details young scientists can unlock valuable insights about the animals around them.

Bugs
Delve into the mysterious lives of insects and arachnids, and uncover their adaptations and their unique (and often gross) abilities.

Physics
Physics surrounds us, from the smallest atoms to outer space! Dive into the mysteries of motion, explore gravity waves, and uncover the ingenious ways simple machines impact our world.

Paleontology
Unearth the secrets hidden within ancient rocks and explore the fascinating world of prehistoric creatures! Take on the role of a paleontologist by delving into dinosaur bones and ancient fossils, piecing together Earth’s ancient inhabitants.

Geology
How do Geologist tell the difference between a rock and a mineral? How do mountains form? Become a Geologist and unlock the mysteries of the Earth.
