As Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s 2023 Summer Reading Program comes to an end, we are so proud of the enthusiastic participation of Pittsburgh readers in this year’s campaign. We are excited to celebrate all of your reading accomplishments on August 13 at CLP – Main in Oakland during our Summer Reading Extravaganza finale event. The event runs from 12-5 pm that day, and will include programs, food trucks, entertainment, fun and prizes!
Something also worth celebrating is the decades-long partnership between the Library and the program’s presenting sponsor EQT. Their constant support and passion for the literacy and learning Summer Reading provides is a true testament to their philanthropic spirit.
“Whether it be children working on preventing the ‘summer slide’ or adults who simply enjoy expanding their horizons by diving into a good book, we are quite enthusiastic about supporting Summer Reading programs across our communities,” said Ellen Rossi, President of the EQT Foundation. “Creating strong fundamentals in reading helps to create stronger leaners for a lifetime and we are so proud of the successes the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh has seen this summer.”
“We are grateful to EQT for supporting our Summer Reading Program for so many years now. Their continued sponsorship has played a pivotal role in bettering the lives of Pittsburghers and their support speaks volumes about the program’s importance to our community,” said CLP’s President and Director Andrew Medlar.
This year, nearly 6,000 readers signed up for the Library’s Summer Reading Program, which is even more than the 2022 campaign (which ran a few weeks longer). Great job everyone!
We hope you and your family will join us for the Summer Reading Extravaganza on August 13 to celebrate reading, achievements and partnership during this festive event!
