Astrophysics for People in a Hurry (DB 89846) by Neil deGrasse Tyson is an excellent book.  He goes through the entire history of the universe in a brilliant and funny manner.  Mr. Tyson has made great strides in educating people on astrophysics and in this intelligent and packed little book he shows his prowess.  And this is a short book, only 3 hours and 43 minutes according to our catalog, but it packs it into each minute.  It is also read by the author, which is always entertaining and in this case just adds to the entertainment of this book, all while educating you.  But enough gushing, lets let the catalog tell you more what is actually in the book.

So yeah.  Mr. Tyson has several more books out, which I’m told are just as entertaining and full of information.  The next of his in my to read pile, which hasn’t quite reached critical mass yet but I can see it from here, is Accessory to War: the unspoken alliance between astrophysics and the military (DB 92454).  I heard an interview with Mr. Tyson on the title and it sounds fascinating.  The amount of cross over between the military and astrophysics is not something I had thought about but it makes sense.  The military relies in so many ways on the advances that science has made and specifically astrophysics, what with missiles, satellites and long distance communication all being in that purview.

All in all I really enjoyed Neal deGrasse Tyson’s book Astrophysics for People in a Hurry and look forward to his latest.  I hope you enjoy them too.
