For people on the Autism spectrum or with other disabilities there are several exciting events coming up in the Pittsburgh area!
On Sunday May 19th at the First Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, The Autism Society and Band Together Pittsburgh will present an Autism friendly open mic. There will mics, keyboards, guitars, amps, and percussion instruments available for participants to utilize.
If you or anyone you know has a talent to share, please attend. One of our volunteers here at the library will be showcasing his skills singing and playing the piano.

The Sleeping Beauty by Pittsburgh Ballet Theater
Sat., May 11, 2019, 2 p.m.
The Sleeping Beauty ranks among the great story ballets — a tour de force of classical choreography and fairy-tale charm driven by a magnificent Tchaikovsky score. Patrons experience the performance through verbal description of the action on stage, including choreography, story line, scenery and costumes. Pre-show notes, with production and program information, begin about 20 minutes prior to the start of the performance. At the theater: Sign out a headset for an audio-described performance at the Guest Services Center located directly next to the elevator in the Benedum Center lower lobby. Prime Stage Theatre “Twelfth Nght”
Match wits with one of Shakespeare’s most dynamic heroines in this hilarious tale of love, music and courage. Set in the colorful world of Portugal, Twelfth Night tickles the imagination as Viola disguises herself as a page boy to find her twin brother but finds herself at the center of a crazy love triangle. If music be the food of love, play on!
The play is now in rehearsals under the direction of acclaimed Pittsburgh actor and director Andy Kirtland, a noted Shakespeare expert and manager of the New Renaissance Theatre Company.
On Friday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m., we will offer an audio described (AD) performance that can be experienced via headphones provided by Prime Stage, along with a touch-tour pre-show workshop for those who are blind or visually impaired.
On Saturday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m., we will present a sensory-friendly performance.
On Saturday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m., we will offer sign language-interpreted performance.
