Fall is the perfect time to learn something new. Why not take a few minutes this fall to learn about some very important people in your neighborhood? Community helpers make our schools, towns, cities, and neighborhoods safe, clean and all around more pleasant places to live, work, and play. There are the community helpers that we see every day – crossing guards, teachers, mail carriers, construction workers, and garbage collectors. There are also the community helpers that are there whenever we need them, saving lives every day – firefighters, police officers, EMTs, doctors, nurses, and veterinarians. These books about community helpers can be shared with young children to make an upcoming trip to the doctor’s office a little less scary, to discover four of the ways that teachers are just like you and me, or just to learn more about all of the people that keep a neighborhood running smoothly.
