Curtain Up!

Many Broadway performers have launched their musical theater careers in Pittsburgh, often at local universities. When school is in session, Music Department staff delight in assisting the many musical theater students who visit us.

The Library’s musicals collection encompasses printed music, CDs (original Broadway cast and movie soundtrack versions), and DVDs, from the earliest Broadway shows to the most recent. Students visit the department for the breadth and depth of the musical score collection, looking for audition pieces, resources for homework assignments, and to explore their own interests.

Here are the most recent acquisitions.

Amélie

Vocal selections from the 2017 Broadway musical based on the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of a charming but socially awkward waitress who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better.

Anastasia

This 2017 musical is based on the 1997 animated motion picture. An orphan named Anya might be the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, the last sovereign of Imperial Russia. Two con men try to exploit this situation. But is she really Anastasia?
