Celebrate Good Times

This week is worth celebrating. Yesterday was the start of Summer Reading (have you signed up?), this week is Pride Week (and Pride Month!) and the Three Rivers Arts Festival (ok so technically this started on the 3rd, but you still have ALL WEEK to celebrate) is taking place! With so many things to do and celebrate this week, it will be hard to browse for books, so I thought I’d help out and list some recommendations here.

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan

Oreos. And first love. And mystery. And Oreos. And emails to a mystery boy. And secrets. And have I mentioned Oreos? This is a really enjoyable book about a boy name Simon who is emailing back and forth with another boy at his school, but he doesn’t know who he is, and then another boy at his school sees his emails and tries to blackmail Simon.

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan

This book is about two boys who are attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest kiss. It contains a variety of view points and is a well-written read.

Openly Straight by Bill Konisgsberg

This is a book that I haven’t read but is on my TBR (to be read) list and is recommended on other lists. Rafe has been visiting schools and giving speeches about tolerance. When he moves to a new school, he sees it as an opportunity to be just another kid, not the one who gives speeches.

Have more questions about summer reading? Looking for some book recommendations? Feel free to leave either in the comments below or head to your local library. We are happy to help!
