Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Beechview is approximately 2.4 miles south of Downtown Pittsburgh. The library is located on Broadway Avenue across from Saint Catherine's Church.

By Public Transit

Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available on the Port Authority of Allegheny County website. You can use their Trip Planner to find the next bus from your location to the library.

From Downtown:

  1. Take the RED Line T to Beechview. Board at any subway station in Downtown Pittsburgh.
  2. Leave the T at Broadway Avenue and Belasco Avenue.
  3. The library will be on the right-hand side of Broadway Avenue.

From Oakland:

Note: A transfer is required.

  1. Board a 61A (East Pittsburgh-Wilkinsburg), 61B (Braddock-Swissvale), or 61C (McKeesport-Homestead) bus towards downtown Pittsburgh from Forbes Avenue at South Dithridge Street.
    OR
    Board a 71A (Negley), 71B (Wilkinsburg/East Liberty), or 71D (Hamilton) bus on Fifth Avenue going to Downtown Pittsburgh.
  2. Get off the bus at Forbes Avenue and Stanwix Street. (McDonalds is on one corner and Gateway Station is across the street on the opposite corner.)
  3. 3. At Gateway Station (or any other subway station) board the RED Line T to Beechview.
  4. Leave the T at Broadway Avenue and Belasco Avenue.
  5. The library will be on the right-hand side of Broadway Avenue.

From South Hills Village:

  1. Board the RED Line T (To Downtown Pittsburgh) at South Hills Village. RED Line service is limited; check the Port Authority website. At many times during the day, you will board the BLUE Line T at South Hills Village and get off at the Overbrook Junction / Willow Station, walk over to the Overbrook Junction / Castle Shannon Station, and transfer to the RED LINE T.
  2. Leave the T at Broadway Avenue and Belasco.
  3. Cross the street and turn left. The library will be on your right.

By Automobile

Parking is available on the street in front of the library.

From Downtown:

  1. Cross the Liberty Bridge, getting into the left lane.
  2. Go through the Liberty Tunnels in the left lane.
  3. Go straight across Route 51 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) onto West Liberty Avenue.
  4. Proceed on West Liberty Avenue to Pauline Street. (Rohrich Cadillac will be on your right.)
  5. Turn right onto Pauline Street.
  6. At the top of the hill turn right onto Broadway Avenue.
  7. Proceed one-half block. Saint Catherine's Church will be on your right.
  8. The library is directly across the street from the church.

From Oakland:

  1. Drive toward Downtown Pittsburgh on Fifth Avenue to Craft Avenue. You should be in the left lane.
  2. Turn left onto Craft Avenue, cross over Forbes Avenue and at the next intersection turn right onto the Boulevard of the Allies.
  3. Get in the left lane of the Boulevard of the Allies and proceed on the Boulevard in the left lane until you reach the Liberty Bridge ramp.
  4. Cross the Liberty Bridge, getting into the left lane.
  5. Go through the Liberty Tunnels in the left lane.
  6. Go straight aross Route 51 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) onto West Liberty Avenue.
  7. Proceed on West Liberty Avenue to Pauline Street. (Rohrich Cadillac will be on your right.)
  8. Turn right onto Pauline Street.
  9. At the top of the hill turn right onto Broadway Avenue.
  10. Proceed one-half block. Saint Catherine's Church will be on your right.
  11. The library is directly across the street from the church.

From the South:

  1. Head North on Washington Road / West Liberty Avenue toward the Liberty Tunnels.
  2. Drive through Mt. Lebanon and Dormont.
  3. Proceed on West Liberty Avenue to Pauline Street. (Fair Oaks of Pittsburgh will be on the hill to your left.)
  4. Turn left onto Pauline Street.
  5. At the top of the hill turn right onto Broadway Avenue.
  6. Proceed one-half block. Saint Catherine's Church will be on your right.
  7. The library is directly across the street from the church.
