Prospect Research on the Internet

The World Wide Web has made prospect research much easier than it used to be twenty years ago—or even ten years ago. However, how do you track down the information you need quickly without spinning your wheels? In this class, we will explore search engines, research sites and a number of tools that can assist you in investigating individual prospects as well as corporations and foundations. This will be a very interactive class geared towards beginners as well as those who wish to brush up on their skills.

The speaker will be Teresa A. Gregory, CFRE, who currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Point Park University’s School of Business in the Sport, Arts & Entertainment Management Program. Additionally, she assists nonprofits in the region achieve their goals through her consulting firm, Pinnacle Fundraising Consultants, LLC. Ms. Gregory has a 25 year track-record as a high-level, results-oriented fundraiser with extensive experience in all aspects of development and nonprofit management. She has been a team leader on campaigns ranging from $200,000 to $40 million working for a wide variety of organizations, including major research universities, professional theatres, museums, as well as small grassroots groups. Ms. Gregory has served as an Adjunct Professor for the Master of Arts Management program at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz School of Public Policy. The International Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) has granted Teresa the status of a Certified Fundraising Consultant.

The fee to attend this workshop is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast, and can be paid at the door with cash or check made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. To register, please call the Foundation Center at 412-622-6277.
