Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
Invisible Man details the life of an African American who feels as if he is not seen by society at large. The narrator describes his life from growing up in the South, attending college, to moving north to New York City. It is in New York’s Harlem neighborhood that the protagonist retreats from the violence on the streets and starts writing the account of his invisible life.
