Hali Felt, a visiting lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh, will discuss her new book Soundings: The Story of the Remarkable Woman Who Mapped the Ocean Floor. The book follows the life of Marie Tharp, whose maps revealed that 70 percent of the planet is covered by water, and in doing so, revolutionized human understanding of the Earth. Book signing to follow.
