The People's University: The Fateful History of Fannie Mae
Saturday, May 4, 2013
| Other Dates
3:00 PM
- 5:00 PM
James R. (Bob) Hagerty, author of The Fateful History of Fannie Mae: New Deal Birth to Mortgage Crisis Fall, will tell the dramatic and sometimes amusing story of how Fannie Mae transformed itself into a dominant force in the U.S. mortgage market and came to hold nearly $1 trillion of debt before crashing in 2008. This experiment in state-sponsored mortgage lending is a classic example of good intentions gone awry. Hagerty has worked for 30 years as a reporter and editor for The Wall Street Journal. Book signing to follow.
