Preparing for Successful Site Visits
Tuesday, December 4, 2012
9:30 AM
- 11:30 AM
As part of the grant review process, foundation site visits to nonprofits provide an important opportunity for both the foundation and the nonprofit organization. The foundation staff and board want to become well-informed about the organization, the proposed project and its staffing. The nonprofit organization has a chance to “show” and "tell" their story, explain its mission and operations, how the proposed grant project will forward the nonprofit’s mission and, very importantly, how it will forward the foundation’s mission.
This program will offer sound practical advice from Joni Siff Schwager, an active executive director of a local foundation, on how to prepare for this critical meeting.
Joni Siff Schwager is the Executive Director of the Staunton Farm Foundation, a seventh generation family foundation that has been awarding grants in the field of mental health (including addictions) in ten counties in southwestern Pennsylvania since 1937. In addition to her work with Staunton Farm, Ms. Schwager serves on several boards of directors and is involved in a variety of community activities. She has also worked for many years as a clinical social worker, both with agencies and in private practice.
This program is free, however, registration is required by calling the Foundation Center at (412) 622-6277.
