• Play rhyming word games with your child.
  (bat, rat, hat, sat)
• Sing songs and mother goose rhymes with your child.
• Play beginning sound games.
  (sit, saw, seven, snake)
  What is the sound that starts each word?
• Break words apart.
  (hot-dog, cow-boy, side-walk, base-ball)
• Clap out the number of syllables in the names of animals, foods or family names.
  (el-e-phant, spa-ghe-tti, Su-sie)
