Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Carrick is located approximately 3.2 miles south of Downtown Pittsburgh. The library is near the intersection of Brownsville Road and Crailo Street, next to St. Basil Church.

By Public Transit

Current schedules, fares and routes for public transit are available from the Port Authority of Allegheny County.

From Downtown:

  1. Board a 51C (Carrick) bus at any stop on Wood Street or Smithfield Street.
  2. Leave the bus at Brownsville Road and Crailo Street.
  3. Cross Brownsville Road to the library.

From Oakland:

Requires a transfer.

  1. Board a 54C (North Side/Strip/Oakland/South Side) bus on Forbes Avenue at South Dithridge Street.
  2. Get off the bus at South 18th Street and Arlington Avenue and board a 51C (Carrick) bus.
  3. Leave the bus at Brownsville Road and Crailo Street.
  4. Cross Brownsville Road to the library.

By Automobile

Note: There is no lot, but street parking is available.

From Downtown:

  1. Cross the Liberty Bridge and enter the Liberty Tunnels in the right lane (Route 51, Uniontown/West End).
  2. As you leave the tunnel, proceed through the intersection and take the exit to the right which loops around onto 51 South (Saw Mill Run Blvd.)
  3. Continuing on 51 South, turn left at the third traffic light.  There will be a gas station on the right and a CoGo's on the left.
  4. Proceed across a small bridge and turn left at Nobles Lane.
  5. Proceed on Nobles Lane to the top (Brownsville Road).
  6. Turn right onto Brownsville Road.
  7. Proceed on Brownsville Road to the library.
  8. The library is located on the left between Newett and Crailo Streets, next to St. Basil Church.

From Oakland:

  1. Drive west on Fifth Ave towards Downtown Pittsburgh.
  2. Turn left onto the Birmingham Bridge [formerly Brady St. Bridge] to East Carson St.
  3. Turn right onto East Carson St. and proceed to 18th Street.
  4. Turn left on 18th Street and follow as it turns into Brownsville Road.
  5. Proceed on Brownsville Road to the library.
  6. The library is located on the left between Newett and Crailo Streets. next to St. Basil Church.
