Narrative

Lawrenceville has a history.
Settled by native Americans in the eighteenth century, site of George Washington's brush with chilly death, home of the Allegheny Arsenal, and once a center of industry, Lawrenceville is also people, people who live there because they choose to and who passionately love their neighborhood. Birthplace of Fritzie Zivic, World Welterweight Champion, Lawrenceville is a community whose ethnic diversity bred a toughness and a grace typical of Pittsburgh. Reflected in the music and lyrics of one of America's greatest composers, Lawrenceville native, Stephen Foster, the feeling for family and home and the pioneer spirit still possess Lawrenceville and Western Pennsylvania today.
