Sunday, February 23, 2014 | Other Dates
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The 6th Regiment United States Colored Troops Drum and Fife Reenactment Corps honors African American soldiers in the Civil War. Young men wear reproduction uniforms and perform drum beats from the time period, and strive to reenact and teach Americans about the pride, glory and challenges of African Americans that fought for the U.S. Army and gained their freedom from slavery during and after the Civil War. The performance will include an overview of the history of the Civil War - with an emphasis on the deeds and sacrifices of African Americans - by John Ford, and of Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum by Tim Neff, Director of Education.
