Join CCAC's Jeanne Bergad to discuss Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Described by William Faulkner as ‘the best novel ever written’, Tolstoy’s epic work was published in serial installments in The Russian Messenger from 1873 to 1877. The title character is a Russian aristocrat and socialite who is in a loveless marriage with a man 20 years her senior. She begins an affair with a cavalry officer, Count Vronsky, and their relationship results in a great tragedy. Anna Karenina has been adapted into a film 15 times; the latest is the 2012 version directed by Joe Wright and starring Keira Knightley as Anna.
