Surviving the Recession with Stimulus Funding

Friday, November 13, 2009
9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides supplemental appropriations aimed at economic recovery, including: job creation and preservation; infrastructure and technology investments; energy efficiency; assistance to the unemployed and those most impacted by the recession; and aid to help stabilize state and local government budgets. Many nonprofit organizations have been stretched to the limit by growth in demand for services during the recession, at a time when established fundraising and endowment revenues are down. This workshop offers nonprofit managers and development staff who are less experienced in Federal government grant seeking a process for (1) researching direct and indirect ARRA funds that may help support programs during the recession, and (2) preparing to apply for grant funding.

Topics:
1) The 10 focus areas in President Obama’s “Roadmap to Recovery”
2) Assessing organizational alignment with the 10 focus areas
3) Researching direct government ARRA grants
4) Locating indirect “trickle down” funds
5) Using ARRA initiatives to position existing programs and prepare for future government funding
