Basic Proposal Writing Workshop

This full-day seminar is for individuals who are new to grant seeking and proposal writing, or who want to refresh their skills. The information is geared to the needs of small to medium-size agencies. Participants will learn about:
• Getting ready for grants
• Overview of the grant seeking process
• Basic components of grant proposals
• What to write in Letters of Inquiry and short proposals
• Steps to develop a grant proposal from start to submission
• Preparing online grant submissions
• Tips to improve proposal success rates

The presenter will be Katherine F.H. Heart, GPC, M.Ed., President of Heart Resources, LLC, a social enterprise providing grants services for health and human services. Katherine has more than 10 years of grant writing and consulting experience, and has presented grant training workshops for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh – Nonprofit Resource Center for the past five years. She is Founding President of the Grant Professionals Association -Western PA Chapter and has earned the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential. Katherine has been a grant reviewer and Voice Awards Fellow for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a federal agency in the Department of Health and Human Services. Previously, she worked as a technical writer for a psychology consulting firm for two years and a nonprofit manager, marketer and trainer for 15 years. Katherine is the author of Making Meaning and Money as a Grant Writer for Your Cause.

The fee to attend this program is $30 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast and can be paid at the door with cash or checks made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Space is limited and registration is required by calling the Nonprofit Resource Center at 412-622-6277.
