Vol. V, Issue 3 • 2011 New Chapter Newsletter

From the Board Chair

Pittsburgh, this past Election Day you made it clear how much you love your libraries.

On behalf of the board and staff of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, I want to thank everyone who took the time to carefully consider and vote on the referendum for library funding on Tuesday, November 8. The importance of the Library to our community is clear, and your confidence in our ability to provide quality services is both humbling and inspiring.

The articles in this newsletter represent just a fraction of the stories we heard from people over the course of the Our Library, Our Future voter initiative. We know that the Library is a place where jobseekers get assistance. It is a place for parents and their young children to find books and build the basic skills of literacy and love of reading. The Library encourages teens to be creative and responds to the ever-changing needs of the community.

As 2012 approaches, we take a moment to pause and reflect on a tremendous year - a year that would not have been possible without your support. I am optimistic about the Library's future and eager to continue our partnership with you so that we may address the community's priorities and provide the best possible library service. Our community deserves no less.

Together, we will make Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh the best library it can be.
