New Chapter Newsletter Vol. IV, Issue 2 • 2010
From the Director
A few weeks ago, hundreds of dedicated library customers and stakeholders devoted several hours of their busy weekend to discuss the future of Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. As Library funding continues to be unstable, and customer needs continue to grow and change, the Library is facing important choices about where it directs its resources. I am a firm believer that the more minds that are dedicated to solving this problem, the more likely a good solution will be found. There is still time to make your voice heard. See how you can share your ideas for the future of the Library.
We want to ensure that our system remains strong, viable and available for future generations. Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is a valuable public asset whose reach extends outside the Library's walls. In this issue of the New Chapter you will learn how families made a splash this summer through summer reading and discover how a partnership with Pittsburgh Public Schools is reinforcing literacy skills when school is out of session).
Thank you for your continued advocacy and support as we seek increased funding that will sustain our Library system well into the future.
