An Online Resource Guide for Allegheny County

Current Assessed Values

The current assessed values for all properties in Allegheny County are available at the Allegheny County Office of Property Assessments Real Estate web site.

  • You may search by property address or parcel id.
  • The database includes residential and commercial properties, both taxable and tax exempt.
  • Their Quick Help Guide may answer your questions, or call their Public Information Line (412) 350-4600.
 

Appeals To Allegheny County Property Assessments

  • Every property owner in the county has the right to appeal. The appeal form is available online from the Office of Property Assessments Appeals Division.
  • The appeal must be based on market value, not ability to pay tax.
  • There is no fee involved.
  • Use attachments to support the appeal: cover letter, property information, repair estimates, photos.
  • The property owner may designate an agent to represent him at the hearing.
  • Deadline to appeal for 2012 has passed. A Special Appeal must be filed within 30 days of receipt of a Notice Letter of Assessment Change. You have a year to file a Special Appeal upon receipt of a Determination Letter or in certain other situations.

Recent Sales of Property in Your Neighborhood

Use the Office of Property Assessments database of sales by school district to identify 2009-2011 sales of property in your neighborhood.

  • Properties are arranged alphabetically by street name for each district.
 

Tax Abatements and Exemptions

Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh offer abatements and exemptions for county and city property taxes.

  • The Allegheny County Office of Property Assessments outlines these tax relief programs on their web site.
  • Residents of other municipalities in Allegheny County should contact their local officials to inquire about additional abatements and/or exemptions.
