Planning a Successful Special Event

In addition to raising money, special events are a great way for nonprofits to:
• Recognize and strengthen relationships with current donors
• Recruit or introduce your organization to new donors
• Generate publicity for your organization and its mission
• Carve a niche event for your organization

Discover the essentials to make your Special Event "special" and worth doing for your nonprofit organization. Find out why some organizations succeed while others spin their wheels and have poor results. This workshop will help you and your decision-makers determine if all the preparation and work behind the scenes to make your event look effortless are possible and potentially profitable. Also, explore creative ideas that can change fun into "funds."

The presenter, Connie Schwartz, CFRE, is an accomplished manager and professional in the nonprofit sector with extensive knowledge in fundraising, communications and planning. She has taught graduate level courses on nonprofit management at Chatham University and the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Connie is a former President of the Western PA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the recipient of their 2007 Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award.

The fee to attend this workshop is $20 per person, which includes a light continental breakfast. It can be paid at the door with either cash or a check made payable to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. To register, please call the Foundation Center office at 412-622-6277.
