Mother Nature cooperated after an ominous June 6th forecast, and the Library's 10th Annual Summer Reading Extravaganza made a big "splash" without thunder, lightning or rain! During the event 3,245 people jump-started the summer reading season with live entertainment, storytimes and cool activities (including a dunk tank!).
During the summer months, all Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh locations offer summer reading activities for the whole family, including book clubs, crafts and games, guest authors and programs designed especially for children, teens and adults. The Extravaganza is a great reminder to the community about the critical services the Library provides.
We are fortunate to live in a city that places an emphasis on literacy and the value of learning. Because of our sponsors we are able to continue our tradition by celebrating Summer Reading in a big way!
